Sting Flash News
Sting to Star in The Last Ship at the Metropolitan Opera
Sting is set to make his mark on the opera scene this summer with a special adaptation of his musical, The Last Ship, at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York. This production will feature nine performances from June 9 to June 14. The musical, inspired by Sting's experiences growing up in a British shipbuilding town, previously had a brief Broadway run in 2014. Sting has been actively refining the show, recently composing a new song for this opera rendition.
In his portrayal of Jackie White, a shipyard foreman facing health challenges and the impending closure of the shipyard, Sting brings a personal touch to the narrative. Reggae artist Shaggy will join him as the Ferryman. Sting has previously performed this role on Broadway and has taken The Last Ship on an international journey, making adjustments to the storyline along the way. Despite its unconventional setting at the Met, Sting's return is welcomed, as he previously debuted there in 2010. This production promises to be a significant chapter in his artistic journey.
Sting Miami Gardens Concert reviews
Sting
Was a great show. Sting and the band ,as well as the opening act, were top notch..his interaction with the crowd made it a special evevning.... the facilities were updated quite a bit from my last visit and things look much better and more in the works it appears!!! ...as a person who has helped plan and also run security on evens such as this, my observation is there could be slightly more room to the front and sides of seating for flow i.e. being able to turn legs slightly to the side when people pass, as opposed to having to stand each time someone enters or exits a row of seats, as well as exiting the event. Increasing the pitch of the floor, from back to front stage would help decrease the blockage of line of sight when people stand, a problem my wife, who is 5'5",encountered whereas she could neither see the stage nor the side monitors clearly at different times. Lastly, spacing between seats was inadequate for a man my size, big but not huge,(290 6') with a good size gentleman, almost my size next to me.we were pressed against each other a bit uncomfortably and kept stepping on each others feet...thank you for providing a forum for feedback and listening to my humble opinion. This is my fourth concert at this venue and i recommend it to all!! I will be back!!!
